Peggy the School Dog

Meet Peggy our School Dog

Peggy has been a much-loved member of the Heamoor Family for the past two years. She is a Border Collie and Poodle cross (a Bordoodle), which means she’s not only super-intelligent but also hypoallergenic, making her perfect for spending time with everyone in school.

Peggy has worked closely with the children in Year 6, offering calm companionship, comfort, and a friendly paw whenever needed. She’s always ready to chase a ball, listen to a story, or simply sit quietly beside children as they learn. Her gentle presence helps pupils feel relaxed and confident in the classroom.

She enjoys joining children from every class for walks, especially across the school field and through the meadow—her favourite places to explore! This year, Peggy has moved to Yellow Class, where she greets children entering Key Stage 1 with a wagging tail and a cheerful smile. She particularly loves that Year 2 pupils spend more time learning on the carpet—it means extra ear scratches and even more cuddles!

It’s not only the children who enjoy Peggy’s company; Mrs Graham also treasures her daily ten minutes of Peggy cuddles. Peggy truly brings joy, calm, and a sense of belonging to everyone at Heamoor School.

Peggy is my bestest, she loves me, she was wagging her tail and she was sp excited so to see me. Peggy snuggles me when need it, when I feel stressed. She makes me feel happy. I keep her company and we love each other lots. When she sees me she shakes my paw with her hand.
