What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to help schools improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. The grant is allocated for children who are eligible for free school meals now or within the last six years, pupils who are looked after or previously looked after, and children with parents in the armed forces.
At Heamoor Community Primary School, this funding is a vital part of our work to reduce the impact of disadvantage and ensure every child can thrive. Our strategy uses the grant to address the specific barriers faced by our pupils—such as language development, early reading, attendance, SEMH needs and access to enrichment—through a carefully planned blend of high‑quality teaching, targeted academic support and wider pastoral strategies.
Our approach is rooted in evidence, aligned with the EEF tiered model, and fully integrated with our School Development Plan to ensure that the funding has the greatest possible impact on pupils’ learning, wellbeing and long‑term outcomes.
