Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at Heamoor Community Primary School. We are committed to creating a safe, nurturing and vigilant environment where every child is protected, valued and able to thrive. Our approach is proactive, trauma‑informed and rooted in strong relationships with pupils, families and external agencies.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Jodie Flynn, Headteacher.
Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) are Lesley Osborne (Assistant Head / SENDCO) & Chloe Reeves (Family Champion)
Together, they lead the school’s safeguarding culture, ensuring that concerns are responded to swiftly, professionally and in line with statutory guidance.

Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is a Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse. Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident.
Our school takes part in the project that is run jointly between schools and Devon and Cornwall Police whereby the police contact us the day following any incident of domestic abuse where a child is present.
We have members of the school staff, known as Key Adults , who are trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to ensure that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, and their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident.
We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe Operation Encompass extremely beneficial for all those involved.
