Phonics and Reading Support

There are many ways that you can help to support your child in feeling confident with their phonetical understanding and reading skills.
Please find resources below.
For Year 2 children there is a specific word list that children are expected to be able to read and write by the end of Key Stage 1.
We usually call these words 'Common Exception Words', which used to be refer to as 'High Frequency Words'.
Please find a list of these words to practise reading and writing with your child.
At the moment, our main focus with Year 2 Phonics would be getting children secure with their 'Phase 5 sounds' then moving onto Phase 6. Please find a useful Phase 5 Sound Mat below as well as a Phase 6 Booklet.
