Macbeth at the Minack

Indigo Class were at the Minack Theatre on Wednesday afternoon as part of this year’s Shakespeare Festival.  Alongside four other schools they performed Macbeth in front of a packed crowd and under (thankfully) warm blue skies! Well done Year 5 - you did us proud!

BBC Blue Planet 'Live Lesson'

We took part in the BBC ‘Teach Live’ broadcast on Tuesday 26th March. We discovered some of the animals that live in our world’s oceans and learned all about the impact that pollution (particularly plastic pollution) is having on animals and their habitats.

Shakespeare Week

Last week (18th - 22nd March) was Shakespeare Week. We celebrated this occasion by focusing on Shakespeare's play, Macbeth.
The children wrote poetry (cinquains and haikus) and completed some creative writing as well as drawing their own Macbeth comic strips. We finished off the week rehearsing our part of Macbeth for the Minack Theatre Shakespeare Festival on Wednesday 27th March.
St Piran's Day

Indigo Class took part in the St Piran's Day celebrations on Tuesday. They danced the 'Furry' through Penzance and processed into Morrab gardens where they joined in with a rousing rendition of 'Trelwany.'
They then danced back to St. John's Hall for Saffron buns.
Physics Week

Throughout this week Indigo Class have been conducting investigations and experiments. They have been designing, making and testing rockets and parachutes to find out which are the most successful.
Story Writing
This week Indigo Class have been getting creative by honing their story writing skills.
On Thursday, they took part in the '500 Words Live lesson' alongside children from schools all around the country.
Eden Project Visit

Indigo Class visited the Eden Project on Thursday and got sustainability 'sussed.'
In a challenge where they hunted down where food from their packed lunches comes from, they learned about the origin of their packed lunches, including food miles travelled and the use of packaging.

A great day was had by all - even had snow on the way back to school!
